Are the Dyna 3 cols you posted a link to the same size as the originals - can they be mounted in the original positions or have you moved them to the tool tray ? I'm needing a new set of coils but haven't decided which ones to get. The Accel + Dyna coils are available on ebay but they're not cheap. You can also use AW82-TRI coils which are for a Honda Goldwing - not easy to find new though.
cheers
Billy
Hi Billy,
The Dyna coils I bought are a bit larger than the stock units. That's at least part of the reason I spread them around.

Sorry just saw your post. There seems to be an abundance of AW82-TRI coils on ebay for like 20 bucks each with free shipping... If they're reliable enough and fit where the old coils used to go that would be pretty awesome lol. The question would remain on whether or not a ballast resistor is needed with those though. If so, I'm back to the Harley coils.

Hi Mike
No you don't need the ballast resistor with the AW82-TRI coils and they fit without any problem. Think I'll try them as they're a lot cheaper than the Dyna or Accel options.

Did a quick google search and felt kind of dumb lol. The AW82 coil swap has been covered before here:

.
Musta dismissed it when researching earlier by assuming he was going to go on about accel and dyna coils lol.

Yeah it's a good write up. I'll give it a go and let you know how it goes. Should be easier to find brand new ones too as they seem to be used on (reasonably) newer bikes.
