1979 Kz1300 A1 Replacement starter

Hi,

Has anyone replaced their starter on a 79 or 80 kz1300?  I ordered one from Ebay and didn't realize that the starter connection wire was on the opposite end. Of course I already had it in place when i realized this. I tried a number of times but just can't seem to reach it in this location. I thought about disconnecting the starter cable completely,  but I can't seem to figure out exactly where the other end even is located 

Also the new one appears to be a little shorter which concerns me as well. Any ideas from the community would be appreciated.

Hi just take the cable off and get a new one made 150mm longer at any good auto electrician The other end is connected to your starter relay off your battery

I'm also curious if anyone has actually installed one of these starters on ebay?  It's supposed to have 20% more power than the OEM model.

I would be more concerned about the length. The old starter shows indications that the drive that splines onto the motor shaft is at the very outboard end, so where does the engagement end up on the shorter starter? 
Also, being shorter, the difference seems to be in the middle where the rotor and field windings are, so the power in the starter will be less due to the smaller magnetic fields.

Also, shy of the rotor windings exploding due to running the starter longer than suggested and not allowing it to cool down between starting attempts, there's no reason for replacing the original starter. Cleaning up the commutator rings and possibly replacing the bearings, every stater motor can be salvaged

Consider returning the EBay purchase and reconditioning your original
