Why Have Four When You Can Have Six ?
Replied by strate6 on topic Voltage gauge regulator
This is fantastic information to have !
Well done Ian, I respect you for giving it a go.
I personally have saved a lot of money over the years carrying out my own investigations & dissection of parts to find alternatives to just replacing them.
What WRGOO56 states about the colour coding was something I was not aware of, so I have benefited from that already by having this post up.
One thing I found many years ago was that the A1 & A2 CDI box has got 3 x Solid State modules inside (encased in hard rubber).
These can be removed if you are careful & patient, and each one replaced if they fail. The Honda CB750/4 uses the same modules, but obviously only has 2 inside its CDI box but both can be used as replacements in the 1300 box.
The Honda CDI is easier & cheaper to find, so works out far less cost.

Got it all to bits and this seems to be the culprit
the number is D2350 .1G
all the other components appear to be working and the board is clean
the Zenner hasnt blown so there hasnt been a short.
cant find any info on the transistor, who made it and its values.
might go and see spotty birk at Maplins.
the closest match i can find is an NTE2317 but not sure.
