Starter Motor

Hi all, just thought i'd mention that a 750 Honda 4 starter motor is great to use for a few spare parts for the 13, I had one in the shed, used a few bits off it

As an aside to KZA's post:

I recently refurbished my starter clutch. in the process I stared to research what service parts are available for the starter.

The brushes are still available from Kawasaki (ordered a set) and I located the obsolete brush springs at a dealership in Maine (States) He should have 8 left on his shelf. My starter is still good but it pays to stay ahead of these obsolete parts on this bike and have spares for when they are needed.

Now I hope I can find them in the future in my managed chaos.

As for bearings most starter rebuild shops can get them and turn the armature, plus service the stator.

The starter motor brushes are the same or very similar to many electric motor brushes such as vacuum cleaner motors, washing machine motors & many other motor or starter motor brushes.

You dont need Kawasaki ones.............just general electrical brushes. You can file them to the correct size if too wide or long.

True and good to know, however, the factory brushes being available from Kawasaki require no modification. The springs appear to be unique and may be a little tougher to find off the shelf. The cost on the factory brushes are only around $8.00. So overall not too bad.
