Nothing happens when turn key on 1986 ZG1300
6 years 3 months ago
undefined Hi, Just some opinions on what may be the problem and where to start to find out what has failed.
Will be getting auto electrician next week to do some testing
Run the bike three day prior and all was went as normal. turned the bike off and when to restart 3 days later all was dead. (Was no left on)
Have checked the battery and actually put a trickle charger on it so terminals okay. Battery to full charge in about 30 minutes so battery good. Checked the main 30 amp fuse and it looked okay without testing but good because when you turn key in seat lock (to take seat off but when you turn key opposite direction the back tail light comes on). So light comes on with fuse in but when take fuse out it does not,,so this fuse good. This is all I can check as have no other gear.
Ideas on what could be problem?
Thanks

Did you by chance happen to open the seat with the key? That lock is also the master on/off switch and if not returned to the proper position, will turn off all of the electrics to the bike.

Make sure when you take the key out of the seat lock you have left the key slot facing in right position because the 1300's have a primitive anti theft system that is the seat lock and the seat lock disables the ign if left in the wrong position check the side cover over the seat lock the positions should be marked on it under the key cover.

Thanks guys that sure was the problem, you saved me a lot of trouble
Moved to next position and everything back to normal.
Only had the 1300 a week, and I would have never guested this was the cause
Thanks
