But if the glass breaks - then it's the retainer that must be freed to remove the glass (pieces) and the very thin glass gasket. Cutting a replacement piece of glass isn't that difficult. It's getting the length and width exactly correct including the rounded corners The is a tolerance of +/- .5 mm or it's too tight and wont fit into the housing recess and too small and it will want to fall out.
Good reason for me to hang on to my stained glass diamond edge grinder.
