There's a company over in the Netherlands called Carmo Electronics who specialize in repairs to motorcycle ECU's DFI's and TCI's They show the same part # for the ZN and ZG DFI boxes as 21175-1008 although Kawasaki shows the DFI for the ZG as 21175-1054 . You could try sending them an email to tech support and ask nicely if the boxes will interchange. My thought is that the flash on the chip is probably different for emissions purposes and that's why the different part #'s.

It'll be interesting info to know for certain, I was always under the impression that the DFI boxes were interchangeable but the ZG & ZN engines are in slightly different states of tune, the ZN having slightly lower power & rev counter redline but fatter midrange for touring duties.
