ZN1300 Trip Computer - metric

Anyone know if it's possible to 'flip' the trip computer into a metric mode? Would seem weird, even in the 80's, that Kawasaki would create two separate trip computers, one for countries that use imperial measurements and one for countries that use metric.

From reading the manuals it would seem there's definitely a metric computer. What's not clear is if the metric and US version are the same (with some kind of switch) or if they are separate parts.
