Ebay -Chinese fuel filters
9 years 11 months ago
received two fuel filters today after a 5 week wait. Waste of money ! Threads are are 'cast" not machined. Both were assembled misaligned. Designed to be disassembled for cleaning, both were difficult to undo and discovered the threads were full stripped both ends on one and one end on other. Strait into the garbage can.
Don't waste your money !

I don't know if the one I bought at a local bike shop was chinese, but it looked good, 5/16" supply, but as soon after I put it on, whilst leisurely motoring down the highway at 150 kph the bike started to run on 5 then 4 and maybe 3 cylinders, I pulled over and sat idling for a short while and she came back to all 6 again, seems the pretty fuel filter just couldn't get enough fuel to the carbs, went home and put a hi-flow plastic one on, all good now, pity, the glass one was all chrome and shiny
after tuesday even the calendar goes WTF

Aw yes, but the real story to be told is where did all the crap come from that blocked your filter?? Shitty gas station or effluent kicking around in your tank? The filter did it's job saving your carbs and maybe the high flow disposable filter will flow more because the surface area of the media is greater than the pretty little glass one.
I'm curious as to what micron size filter one could get away with. There's lots of filters on the market but in this day and age a lot of them have been designed for fuel injection and are probably in the 2-5 micron range. That's too small for gravity feed.
Now I have another thing to add to the list to investigate. Well, thanks for bringing up the subject. Going to look through my Fram catalog and see what's available.

It's amazing to me how crap like this can be sold. Hmmmm........Cuz suckers like me buy it ?
I doubt kza13s' bike quit due to fouling from:shitty gas or effluent ? Oooooh ! Harsh !
Besides the puny filter cartridge look at the ridiculous little 'grooves" intended to flow the fuel in and out and try to convince me that this filter would be able to supply fuel to anything bigger then a lawn-mower.
I did keep the 2 heavy glass bodies, because y"all know I'll make something using them :woohoo:
I sense a new project on the horizon

Scotch, what about simply machining up a new set of ends to fit the glass and filter? The filter looks OK, and so does the glass. How parallel are the ends of the glass?
