Time outs?
10 years 1 month ago
Sometimes, especially with technical subjects, it takes me quite a while to compose accurately what I want to say in a post. When I click "Submit" it comes back with "timed out", or something to that effect. It also wipes out everything I wrote! Aaaarggghhhh! What's going on? Does this happen to anybody else? Any fixes for this? I don't always remember to "copy" my text before hitting "Submit".

I experienced this on another system. If I write longer texts there I use word and copy it into the browser, otherwise it's lost (as you experienced).

I just timed out while trying to reply to your PM TrikeBldr. Fortunately I was able to hit the back button and recover the text. I'll get on the time limit problem as soon as the hosting company opens for business.
Thanks for your patience.

We're still experiencing time out problems. I did a test last night and a 13 minute delay in hitting the submit button earned me a time out, Not Cool! Until I find the right settings it might be best to compose longer replies in Word or notepad and then paste them into a post.
I'm working on it.

Some issues just aren't worth wrestling with. 13 minutes time frame is sufficient for most posts. For longer posts, composing off-forum and pasting is the way to go.
I wouldn't mess with it anymore, other than to maybe add a note about it so newbies won't be caught off-guard.
