What do you do for work when you're not riding?

In 2005 I took my first Team Oregon motorcycle safety class. In 2009 I tried to volunteer as a new instructor only to find that they don't work with volunteers. I'd have to become an employee of Oregon State University. I managed to complete my apprenticeship and intern assignments in the first season and rolled out as a full instructor late that year. Since then I've filled several roles including that of Site Specialist which means that I'm responsible to see that 37 motorcycles start every Saturday and Sunday morning, whether or not I'm teaching. I've forgotten which year I became a Mentor responsible for training new instructors, probably somewhere about 2014.
At this point I've completed 16 years as a Team Oregon member and I can assuredly say that it's the most rewarding job I can imagine. I taught 20 classes this past season, half of which were two day classes.
My wife and I spent the weekend at the Instructor Awards Banquet over in Salem, Oregon where I scored this plaque.
Team Oregon employs nearly two hundred instructors at 26 training ranges across the state.
Thanks for listening.

Well done, Bill, that's a very worthy job you're doing. Here in England, about 45 years ago, I enrolled on a short duration motorcycle safety course, run by police motorcyclists in their spare time. More recently, I've had car driving tuition from ex-police instructors. The knowledge gained from both has served me well, making riding and driving safer and more enjoyable.
What type of bikes do you use for the safety classes, Bill?
