Front calipers
3 days 16 hours ago
Hi, I'm new on here so my apologies if this has been covered before.
Does anyone know if any other calipers fit standard fork mounts on the 13? Or if any fit with minor mods. I have a 1981 UK reg z1300.
Thank you everyone.

There is nothing else that will fit straight on.
Some people have made caliper adapters but not seen any for a long time. Pretech in the UK used to make custom 6 piston calipers that bolt straight on but they aren't operating anymore

I helped a friend mount a set of CB1000 calipers on a Rd400 Yamaha he was racing. I'll never forget seeing him clamp down on those babies and ending up in a front wheel wheelie. I thought he was going over the handlebars. Now after being exposed to "engineering aspects" at the nuclear plant, I think about things like the added stress on the fork tubes and if too much brakes might bend the tubes in a panic brake. Nothing like having more brakes than you need just in case as long as you consider what may happen in a bad situation.

A much more economical solution is to change the fork.
The one fitted to the GPZ1100 B1 or B2 or the Z1000J would be a good option. You can adjust its hardness with compressed air, like the Z13.
I don't recommend those manufactured after 1983 with the “Unitrack” anti-sag system combined with the brake, as its complex design failed more often than not.
