Electric Cars and Motorcycles

I guess the time will come when there will be no new IC engine powered motorcycles available, only electric. That doesn't hold any appeal for me. A motorbike is defined by its engine - the configuration, the appearance, the power characteristics, the sound. An electric motor is bland in comparison. Up to a point the same holds true for cars, but having driven a Porsche Taycan several times, I think I could live with an electric car. The all-round performance is staggering, and even the optional synthesised sound is appealing Have a look at this Youtube video, particularly the instrument display ( towards the end of the video) during a launch control, showing the rate of acceleration.

I agree, the engine configuration is one of primary features that attracts me to a bike, or even a car in that case. I'm finding it difficult to embrace, but electric is the future, for the short term anyway.

Stiggy - I drove a Tesla X90D ( amazing gullwing type doors) through the Peak district. Some of the twisty roads had seriously steep inclines, but the Tesla just maintained its pace seemingly without effort. I recall reading that the throttle response on the best electric cars is about five times quicker than an engine, and I can believe it. No matter what the speed, they surge towards the horizon at the slightest touch on the pedal. Though it must have caught out this unfortunate owner:

I have ordered the model X 100. Not gone for the 2.6 sec to 60 version though.... I have opted for the slower long range 4.4 sec to 60. I cannot be having a car weighing 2.5 tons that is faster to 60 than my z1300.
