Yes, agree with Pete, I came across this topic when sailing and wire diameter of the mast rigging was important aspect affecting drag.
I tended to blame this factor for coming last most of the time and it was probably the reason I preferred a blue water cruiser later in my career...make sure the rigging is strong ( large diameter), pull up the sail, pull out the newspaper and aim down wind !!

An interesting read and amazing that a few subtle changes could make such a difference to the aerodynamics such that rad size could be reduced saving weight between the rad and the coolant.

I enjoyed that read, not that I can do anything about it.... just load up the horsepower and grip harder!
