Always buy a SNELL Foundation-certified lid.
One of my pet peeves is DOT helmet certification. It it literally useless, meaningless, and deceptive. There are way too many DOT (i.e. uncertified) helmets being sold.
Unless you have no dependents, and literally don't care whether you live or die, for Chrissake get one with SNELL Foundation certification.
"William "Pete" Snell was a popular amateur sports car race driver. In 1956, during a Sports Car Club of America racing event, he died of massive head injuries when the auto racing helmet he was wearing failed to protect his head."
