Air Filter
5 years 6 months ago
Can anyone answer this question ?
My KZ1300 came with a K&N Reuseable Air Filter fitted so I dont have the Standard one.
This K&N has an OPEN end and a completely CLOSED end.
The OPEN end has Foam Sponge around it, the CLOSED end does not.
Looking at images on the web today, it looks like the FACTORY STANDARD Air Filter is OPEN at both ends and has Foam Sponge at only one end.
Can anyone confirm this is correct for me ?
Thanks

Hi Pete, i had k&n filter when i got my bike and it was like you said one end open whitch goes down and other end was closed and was on the top. Than i replaced this with standard paper filter open on both ends and sponge also on both ends. I than fabricated this cover for the top part. The filter i got from Deb and Oz zet-parts in UK.

Pete, the tool tray covers the open end on the standard filter. I have a K&N filter which has both ends open. I have also seen the ones with one end closed, that might be due to the fact that many tool trays have gone missing on the 1300s. K&N may have done a version with closed end to suit customer need.

To confirm - my K&N filter has one end closed one open with a sponge. Closed goes top, sponge bottom.

Thanks for replies..............and I realise the CLOSED end must go at the top (obviously) but had a K&N Filter in the past which had BOTH ends open, so just wanted to confirm the one I have is definitely a K&N which does look to be the case now.
Thanks
