The Honda Goldwing GL1000 along with its contemporary sibling -the CX 500/650 have found a lot of favour recently in the custom bike scene, but like the kz1300 , are very difficult to get right when being modified. The drive shaft limits rear wheel options and the bikes are rather "fat and bulburous" But theses two here are amazing-just shows what can be done . Video in HD

Thanks for the links tackelhappy.
got into the GLs pretty late in the series, starting with a 2000 GL1500CT.
A couple of years ago I seem to have inherited an 83 GL 1100. It's had it's share of problems but I don't ride it enough to make it a priority
Years back I had occasion to put some miles on a Silver Wing CX 650. All I can say is it wasn't a Gold Wing.

The first bike I built was my '78 GL1000. Still have it, still ride it often. I've put about 30k on it in 3 years and it just goes and goes and goes.

5 years 9 months agoAre you satisfied with the linked brakes? I'm thinking about revising the plumbing so that the brakes are separated.

Had a CX650 Eurosport about 25 years ago, reasonably powerful, lovely sounding, if a little top heavy in the handling. Very good ultra-reliable bikes in their day. Hundreds of London dispatch riders can't be wrong
