Built in America?
6 years 2 months ago
On the KZ1300, Wikipedia says "...built in America as all Z1300 models were...". But every cast part I've pulled off this says "Made in Japan".
So what is the real scoop?

Parts were made in Japan and shipped to US for assembly.

when i was sourcing info on my bike i was advised the NZ and Aussi bikes where originally built in Japan
not sure at what point USA built units headed this way
ours are all Z1300 not KZ as US has same bike though except a cpl details
IE we only got 27ltr tanks and some other things cant remember off top of my head

Looking at the question I can only assume.
The bikes for Europe and NZ/ AU are probably built in Japan and shipped to the destinations, those for the US (as already mentioned) are assembled in the US to avoid duties in the US.
Again, only assumed.
Addition to the above (edited later). Starting with the A3, the bike has been bult (also) in Lincoln, Nebraska).

Its my understanding that only the 1300A1 and A2 were built in Japan, then the A3 was the first model built in the USA.
