Cable query - dumb question of the day
8 years 8 months ago
Guys, I've a simple query was hoping someone could clarify for me re throttle cable lengths.
I thought the opening cable (54012-1027) and closing cable (1028) were different lengths, but Ive just bought a set from a reputable supplier and they are identical length cables (and stamped 54012-1038) ??
I was not sure how critical any variance in length was, and to just fit the bloody things and see what happens
Any thoughts or am I worrying unduly :S
Cheers Tim

I can’t see how a variance in the cable lengths would make any difference, get them fitted and get out there and ride that big old bike.

This might be a dumb question however why don't/didn't you match them up to the old cables - even if the inside cables were broken the outer cables should still be usable to measure
And isn't the depth of the curved tube deeper on the return cable because its on the back of the twist grip mounting bracket
Just my thoughts at 7 am on a Sunday morning after a long Saturday...

Not a lot of people know or realise this...............but the Z1300 has throttle cables that come out of the TOP of the RH handlebar cluster.
The KZ1300 has throttle cables that come out of the BOTTOM of the handlebar cluster.
This is because the KZ1300 has a smaller tank than the larger UK/Euro model.
The 2 cables are therefor different.
