Air cut off valve adjustment
10 years 3 months ago
I recently pulled my carbs down and removed the air cut off valves for replacement .
I am in the process off putting them back together and noticed the covers have an adjustment screw wich are set at different heights would anyone remember wich way they go shortest left to longest right etc.
Or is there instructions on adjusting them anywhere I looked at the manual and couldn't find anything.

I've never seen an adjustment on that valve either.
Are yours causing the carbs to backfire? If not, I would not adjust them.
I believe its one of those items Mikuni just set at the factory and never expected anyone to adjust. (or Solex, the original designer)
Regards.

The problem is though all three are at different heights and i have mixed them up it never backfired before . And i can't see a logical reason why the screws would have at least a mm difference between the three.
Heres a pic of what i am talking about.

Could be that someone has fiddled with them in the past.
I would put them on as is and see what happens.
Or another suggestion would be to put all three in the middle of the adjustment and put them on that way.
You're not going to damage anything, but if they start popping, you'll have to remove them and try another setting.
I don't think it's that critical of an adjustment.
Todd.
