Carbie assembly cleaning

Hey again guys,
As you guys will be aware I am in the process of overhauling my A4 carbies.I have pulled them apart and am wanting to clean the carbie tops, bowls and bodies up. Initially I was going to take them to get aqua blasted but because I am a tight a@#& I thought that I would see if anyone out there in Z13land had a homemade receipe to soak the carbs to clean them up nicely. I have seen on the net if you soak your carb assembly in a mix of Pine-Sol and water left over night works well. Unfortunately here downunder we don't have this product. So if anyone can assist that would be awesome. If the worst comes to the worst then I'll just have to get them aqua blasted. Thanks again

Honestly mate just use diesel.
Leave them in for a few day & move them around now & then.
Diesel does not spoil or affect alloy but has strong detergents in it that remove all scale & carbon.
I leave my whole carb bodies in it & then come out spotless.

Once the carbs have soaked in diesel what do you use to dry/clean the excess off ?

I just use WD40 or petrol if you have some, just rinse with that.
I did use to buy 5 litres of celulose thinners to bath them in, but found it created a bit of acidation sometimes & left a deposit, but diesel being a light oil does not do that.
Its best to leave them a week or so if possible. The results are great.

Cheers Pete - think I give that a go in the winter. Will be interesting to see the results using diesel. I've used diesel to clean chains but didn't cross my mind to use it for the carbs.
