Set Floats using 3mm drill bit

2026-06-21 Set Floats using 3mm drill bit
Recently, I had to adjust the float bowl tang to achieve the correct fuel level in the carburetor.
After a bit of trial and error, I found that a 3 mm drill bit almost always generates the correct level.
If the gap is too tight, place the bit under the tang then gently pull it under until the bit diameter center line
is under the shiny spot that contacts the inlet valve.
Here is a Scotch float vs OEM.
Closest bit I had at 3 mm.
Almost to the correct location.
I've done this on two racks now, and the fuel level has been in factory specs.
