Carb Install?

I'm in the process of putting the carbs back on that removed about 2 years ago. !980 carb model obviously. What is the order things go on. The adapters go onto the engine inlets first. Then do you put carbs in with rubber carb to inlet box adapters on the carbs, put the carbs into the engine then slide the airbox in? Or do you put the rubbers into the airbox and slide them in after the carbs are tight up to the engine ?  I tried the second scenario and the fit is so tight I couldn't get the middle rubber onto the carb, Everything is removed. thanks for any ideas

Carbs on, rubbers on the airbox and wriggle airbox in and try to get all of the rubbers onto the carbs - real PITA!

OK thanks, like I said that's what I did and had the 2 outer rubbers on but couldn't get at the bottom of the middle one due to lack of access.

Remove from its housing the rear part of the airbox, the one containing the air inlet and the filter, it will give you a little more leeway to place the part where the boots are housed.
Also grease with oil and mold with the hand the boots to get a little elasticity, it will help you at the time of the adjustment and insertion with the carburetors.
