Re: Fuel mileage
1 year 6 months agoAh, the joys of Imperial gallons vs U.S. Gallons vs Liters per 100 kilometers vs miles per gallon !
That's why I stay Ole School with M.P.G. I simply can't grasp kilometers per liter.
Even simpler: When it quits.....you're close to empty......switch to Reserve. When that quits....your walking ! While hiking to the closest gas station you can calculate steps per 100 meters !
That would be 124. We had to know that in the Army.

Air force: Lbs of fuel-burn per minute at Full Combat Power setting. I'll take the smell of Jet-A over a pair of stinky marching boots....any day !

Re: Fuel mileage
1 year 6 months agoJust a little off with the math Holger. He traveled 272.7 Kilometers using 13.285 liters. 272.7 KM= 2.727 100KM
13.285 liters / 2.727 (100 km) = 4.87 L/100 KM
@ KawBoy: Thanks, gives a good insight into my abilities in math
Did he go behind a trailer @ 80 k ms/ hour for the whole distance. That is a very good rate ...

Good one !
I leave the "drafting" to the Budweiser Team ! I did however play leap-frog with one transport truck for 30 K. .
Many years ago I did draft a transport, up close and personal. It was quite remarkable how much throttle could be backed-off. The driver apparently didn't appreciate my initiative to save fuel so he tapped the trailer brakes enough to give a good puff of smoke. I got the message ! I never did like the smell of burning rubber

I did that once on a Honda V65 Sabre and it was like riding in a vacuum. After the engine temperature rose to the point of activating the fan, I moved on.
