Alternative carbs

Hi. Has anyone ever tried to fit a different carb to a 13, I was thinking of making a manifold and fitting a single large bore carb to mine as I have a naff set of carbs,
Number 4 cylinder runs rich all the time despite doing all the cleaning tips elsewhere on this site.engine is ok with good compression all round. Could it be the coasting enriching device be blocked but wouldn't that make both plugs black on that carb?
I'm not bothered about a power loss just want the smoothness back ,had enough of the stuttering on take off.
Cheers. Mark

Someone developed a manifold for a twin choke Webber carburettor. Not sure if it is being produced.
A Japanese company makes a set of 6 separate carbs and adaptors but REALLY expensive. FCR I think?

Get hold of Z1300 South Africa. They have a website with contact details. I think the guys name is Tertius, they do the manifold for the webber conversion if I'm not mistaken.

If you have the money...
Available with the adaptor manifolds straight from Japan.
japan.webike.net/products/21724102.html
Only like $3200.00 or so... :pinch:

Many have tried over the years and all have failed. Even over there on the other 6 cylinder bike site the topic comes up every once in a while and the veterans always say leave it alone- or maybe that should be nothing has ever worked any better.
Tertius in South africa does have a conversion - what looks like a cast aluminum intake for a weber carb - but who has tried it.
A better solution, if you live in North America, would be to get a complete fuel injection kit from the later model Voyager . Then the bike is virtually the same as the european versions from 1984 onwards and if you do get into trouble getting it to work right , maybe our european brothers could help you out with any problems. But the parts would easy cost you a $1000.00 from e-bay
