Well done getting the chains reproduced! How are you going to refinish the gears? Plate-link chains and their respective gears are usually replaced as a matched set.

How bad were your originals?

Don't know how bad they are. I need to pull the engine and breakdown. The one gear on the crank is integral. But you're right, standard practice would be to change the gears at the same time.

Christmas time in May. Just picked up the primary and secondary chains from Ramsey Products. I also got back the missing chains that floated around North Carolina for 3 weeks when USPS couldn't deliver the EBay purchased chains to Ramsey Products. Time to start tearing into the engine. FINALLY !!!!

New chains and sample chains side by side

This is a great result - well done for your perseverance. Can you - just for interest - take any measurement from the chains to show the amount of wear?

I'll see what I can do. first have to pull the engine and tear it down. Had a few "Honey do" items to take care of first. Hope to get into it next week.

I'd also be interested in seeing the difference. Good on you for sticking with it!
