1980 Z1300-A2 Restoration After 7 Years Under a Tarpaulin

Not quite a barn find but a couple more years under the tarpaulin and it would be harder to recover. Every surface needs refinishing. The engine internals are in great condition which is testament to the owner who had it serviced regularly. It's a one owner, UK bike with 23000 miles. Unfortunately I never met the owner as he passed away but uncannily I bought his last two bikes without ever knowing. In 1980 he traded a Z1000 in for this Z1300 at Northampton Kawasaki. I purchased the Z1000 and had it for 5 years. 44 years later I purchased his Z1300 from his widow which he'd had all those years after the Z1000. How spooky is that; it was meant to be?

I have one of those too.. a low mileage 'beach bike' with corroded surfaces everywhere.. Good luck and keep us up to date?

Yes, an amazing turn of events that you should buy two bikes previously owned by the same guy.

I’m looking forward to following your progress on the restoration of the 1300.

Thanks, it's taken a lot of time and money but I'm nearing completion. I'll add more pictures.
