Another Kz1300 in the stable - 1980 model B....
3 years 10 months ago
So I'm weird.. I follow bike history of ones I own.. but outside that window... don't care.
But just acquired a 1980 Kz1300
So then..
My bud Ray calls...."I just spent some of your money!"
Me "Fucking Great! What?"
Ray "1980 KZ1300, 14k miles, unmolested."
Me "UhOh, how clean, how much dinero?"
Realize that Ray and I go way back, he's done 2 1960's BMW's, a 79 Kz1300, a 1981 Honda CBX, a 87 ATK....
Still, well, you know....
Ray "So it's really clean." ....avoiding the question...
Ray "It's close by, too."
Me "Ray?"
Ray "I already told the guy it's sold..."
Me "Good, I trust you... Ray, how much?"
Ray "700 dollars!"
Me "OH GAWD that is freaking GREAT!"
Some quick questions...
Is this a true 1980? Tank badging very different... ignition looks different too... color of puke brown, errr, I mean Chocolatie?
Here's some pics from Ray's POS phone...
<apologies for the redirect to my blog... but I'm now working away from home at the nuke plant 72+ hours per week... so time is short..>

Assuming tank and air filter covers are original, that must be a 1981 A3.

After a couple of days sitting with KROIL in the cylinders, a fresh load of gas in the tank and a new battery..
Guess what happened when the starter button was pushed?
.
.
..
...
....
.....
The damn thing started right up, as in within 3 crankshaft revolutions. Amazing! Last run in 1992. The darn thing even idles!
