Engine casing cleaning.

Had the above items ultrasonically cleaned recently. Before being dipped, the casings had a goldish finish on the alloy. The finish is still there, but has faded somewhat due to the ultrasonic process.Does the finish play an important part in the running of the engine. Can anyone tell me what the coating is.If the coating needs to be reapplied, what is the best way to go about it? Ta so much. KEZZ.

KEZZ:

Are you talking about the inside or outside of the casing?

If it's the gold finish on the inside, the fading is ok.

The inside finish is alodine. A coating meant to protect the aluminum.

Well you learn something new everyday.
In my ignorant world i always thought the colour inside the engine was a stain from the hot oil.

Nice one..
