Scotch - thank you for reminding us of Stan’s achievements. His more recent endeavour has been the assembly of another KZ1300, but this time he did not have a bike as the basis of a rebuild   -instead he began buying all the individual parts necessary to construct a  ‘new’ 1300 from previously used components. These second hand parts were mostly sourced from a multitude of eBay sellers -  an entire set of crankcase bolts from here, a crankshaft from there, set of transmission components from somewhere else. Hundreds of purchases later, Stan had what he needed to build an engine from previously ‘unacquainted’ parts.  To cut a very long story short, after obtaining a frame, swing arm, wiring harness, Stan had another functional KZ1300.  The
engine sounds fabulous, as anyone will know if they’ve watched the start-up video.   All this, as Scotch mentioned, was achieved in a far from ideal working environment. Stan’s resolute ability remains undeflected.  He puts me to shame.

Thanks!

This poor bike definitely fits into the "sow's ear" category. It breaks my heart to see how it's been neglected and abused.

Cheers.

KawaBCN    Don't lose heart!  The time is near when you will have overcome every challenge that has faced you in restoring your 1300.   When, at last, you have the motorcycle in perfect working condition,  all these troubles will be forgotten,  You, and we, will have gained knowledge from your experience.  You have created much interest on this forum with your posts, and lots of humour along the way, too!  Thank you for that.

Sign me up.
I've spent decades buying cars and bikes as well as helping and advising others on doing the same. For some unfathomable reason I broke every single one of my own rules with this bike. I think I had sussed out all the faults and figured I could sort it for a reasonable cost. I was just blind to the lies told by the PO and darkly hidden secrets buried within.
In the end, I'm the buyer who had to be aware but I will make it all work in the end, with patience and good advice ;-)
So, sign me up to the "Paid too much for a sow's ear" club"!
