Do you have a washer on the tensioner bolt?
I found washers on the screws of my tensioners and what they did was make them useless, only the spring acted.
Without the washer, the tensioner is blocked, preventing its return.

2024-01-24 Oil Seepage, Starter Motor, Timing CoverWhat's behind the timing cover. Sealed by O-Ring.
45 mm
Corroded nut on starter cable. Connection was clean, however.
Out of the hole and cleaned up.
OEM starter. 60 amps initial, 30 amps running, unloaded. New one from Rick's Electro ordered.
O-Ring shape? Looks flat. Need to see if Rick's comes w O-Ring or not.

Not the chain tensioner that drives the water pump and the pickup.

This exploded drawing corresponds to the chain tensioner that drives the camshafts.Mine does have a washer behind it. Partzilla shows it having a washer.. I wonder if your washer is incorrectly sized?
