I've heard that Suzuki's are a little more forgiving on their tolerances. I guess you use an old tennis ball for first over and a new tennis ball for second over.
Haven't seen a hand brace in 55 odd years. Last one was in my great uncle's drill box.

Just ordered a tube of "Pro Tennis Balls" and some of that Industrial Foil Piston Shimming Tape. Will have to sneak into my wife's' baking drawer for her electric mixer.......
