Cam Chain Idler Gear was created by kyscootertrash
I am currently talking to Liska Racing about making a steel replacement for the cam chain idler gear, ( OEM part #21053-1004). You know, the plastic one that wears out in about 30,000 to 50,000 miles. They already make one for the KZ900, that runs on the same shaft, but uses a different type cam chain. I've attached a pic of their KZ900 idler. I should know details in a week or two, about the feasability and cost per gear. Anyone else interested?

Why Have Four When You Can Have Six ?

This is great news mate !
I am definitely interested & have my full top end in pieces at the minute for a refurb.
My only concern was I was lead to believe that K made the original gear from Nylon to prevent wear on the chain itself (metal on metal) & to keep running noise to a minimum, but thinking out loud, the crank sprocket is metal & so are the cam sprockets, so should be ok ????
I guess price will decide unfortunately.

I think the original idea of the nylon, was to reduce noise, and cut manufacturing costs. I tend to think that since the crank and cams are steel, wear shouldn't be a problem. Liska sells the KZ900 gear for about $80.00. I hope they can sell the KZ1300 gear for close to that.

Sounds interesting never liked the nylon idea would be a good replacement .

I'd be interested as well just to have one handy when the time comes to put it in.
