If you take apart the headlight switch, you can file down the plastic that prevents the switch 'ring' from turning further. You'll need to file it down just enough that the headlight contacts no longer make contact (but otherwise, work like normal). I did that mod to my 79 44 years ago.

Second Bike, 1979 with 'Go Fast' speedometer fitted with same three wire latch switch with light illumination.
Each bike has air fork gauge, battery monitor, headlight byPass Switch, A ccell could, Vacuum petcock,can chain tensioner upgrade.I initially got into the KZ1300 AFTER my Dad and two of his buddies bought one new in 1979.

24,000 and 41,000 and I ride them regularly.
