Thanks for your reply.
Your 1300 looks like it has some non standard handlebars on it - do they suit you?
If you have time, please keep us updated on the work you do to the bike. Photos would be nice too. It all helps to keep this site alive, and the shared experiences are useful and interesting..
The BMW GS in all its generations has been a popular bike here in the UK. I believe it is one of the top selling motorcycles here, and the new R1300GS will no doubt maintain that position.

Hi Jim
I did not like the look of those bars when I got it.
However they are really comfortable as they bring your elbows in.
I was looking to change them but would have to adjust the throttle and clutch cables which is too much hassle at the moment.
Only drama with them is that the brake oil reservoir is not level so not ideal.
Hopefully it will go back together ok and I can get some "action" shots to post
cheers

Found this in a manual when I was trying to work out what the module near the tail light did.

Yes, now that I have found page 318 and the oil level warning system wiring diagram, it has made everthing a lot clearer.
However one of the ignition coils melted whilst I had the ignition on, so have to replace with a new one, which arrived today.
So getting closer.
