How do you ride? was created by McZee
How do you ride?I’ve often wondered how other owners ride their Kawasaki 1300. I ride mine very carefully and seldom go any faster than 70mph, I tend not to have the engine revving too hard either, keeping in mind that it’s over forty years old. If I want to burn a bit of rubber I have a Z1000 which is good for a more spirited ride, the 1300 is usually treated like the grand old lady she is. So how do you ride yours, steady and careful like me, or do you like to wring it’s neck?

Generally, the same as you, though I have sustained an estimated 100 mph at times (I have one of those 85mph speedos), I have a Suzuki better suited for when I want to ride like an idiot. I'm settling on using my 1300 on tours and colder weather as the engine and Windjammer III does well to keep me warm.

The same again. I used to beast my Z13 everywhere but a few years ago I realised it was getting a bit old and needed to be treated in a calmer and more dignified manner if it was to last as long as me.
So I bought a ZZ-R1100 C1 and I thrash that instead - but these days I have slowed down in general and will only speed if I know there are no speed cameras and can see there are no mobile ones

Rarely see redline... but have been know to stay in the upper rpm band in 2nd gear on a 5 mile long twisty section of road just to ensure rings remain seated via good cylinder pressure.

Normal cruising 60-70 mph but some accelerations up to red line just to hear the 6-1 singing. Sensible joy and pleasure.
