Hi guys, been long ever since I wrote hier something.. busy live and alot of projects... however. I'm thinking to build alternative injection controll system. Because? To step against the challenge, learn and make the bike fuel range better and of course little more tork but thats not very important. Also fuel range can be donne by tununing caruretors better but than no injection challange.
So question hier: its '79 A2 in my belive, its the bike on my profile picture. I'm going to need crank signal at least 18 pulses thats only 20 degrees each.. and cam signal one puls. The idea is to generate crank signal in originL distributor housing, but I'm worried that the shaft vibration (from chain and sprocket driving the distributor) may possibly cause falls triggers because the teeth of the trigger wheel will be very close to each other due to limited space. At this stage there is nothing done jet so no means to test this. What are you opinions on this?

An interesting project to take on Daro.
I like the Microsquirt ECU. Size ( 4" x 3" x 1.5" ) . it will take a Variable Reluctance , or Hall Effect, or Optic signal . If all you want to do is use it for fuel injection only, it can be used taking a tach signal from one of the ignition coils along with a throttle position signal and either a Manifold pressure or Mass airflow input. It could do batch fired 2 bank fuel injection plus wasted spark up to 4 channels. so literally, it could run a V8 engine in wasted spark and 2 bank fuel injection. Cost $344 USD.
For fuel injection only, it doesn't need a cam signal. all it requires is knowing what the engine rpm is.
I have a Microsquirt ECU ready to install. I also picked up a throttle body for a ZN1300 from EBay for $80. I also picked up 6 17 LB injectors which can fuel up to 180 HP. Some machining of the throttle bodies to accept the injectors and I'll need a universal fuel injection rail along with a pressure regulator set to 43 PSI and last but not least, a fuel pump good for 60 liter per hour.
If I had any reservations about this project, it might be whether or not the charging circuit can keep up to the added demand. Fuel pump should be around 2 amps if I get a 60 liter per hour pump. Fuel injectors about 12 amps. ECU 5 amps. It all starts to add up. This could be offset by updating the lighting to LED's ???

Kawboy jeah enough of electrons may be the problem, I'm aware of that it can be a deal killer. I rewound original stator already, posted hier somwhere some time ago, im runing custom ignition, probably more efficient than the original, fuel pump and two lsu 4.9 lambda probes plus controler and display. When the fan kicks in, the voltage drops to 13 volt from 14.2 or something.
The ecu in mind is a emu pro 8, it would feat under the seat. One lambda less could compensate for better fuel pump, than we still have a ecu to power up. I'm not planing on expanding charging system to a second generator even if I can't build injection at all otherwise.
Originally I thing some machines have had only one generator and dfi, could that be through?
And now still remain the question of tooth wheel being installed in old distributor hausing. I like this old stile looking case. Things like hv cables emiting endles amounts of rf interferences and being collected by sensors cables we will leave for later discussion.
Till now I have build simple setup made out of speeduino board and optical sensors, just to test how angle of trigger works and some simple ecu programing stuff with tuner studio. A 36-1 tooth pattern on a 2" diameter wheel would give a strong enough signal for either Hall effect or Variable Reluctance sensors and I think a 2" diameter wheel would fit in the pick up sensor housing possibly??leaving room for the sensor itself ??

That's good news Kawboy. It will give me 10 degrees per tooth. Enough to run waste spark and hopefully injection. Ill probably need one more sensor on camshaft for sequential injection but have to see to that first. I already have throttle body with original injectors and would like to use them. Don't know the flow rate but it can be determined by comparison to known injector. The reason for emu 8 is that it has a lo z injector driver built in, peak and hold and can drive ignition coils also directly with no extra electronics necessary. I think otherwise rf from spark plug cables could be problem later with alot of hardware here and there because ther is not so much space to mount everything away from theme. It cost here 1600 euro so I could live with that also.
