Hi Stan, did you pre soak the clutch fiber plates for a least 24 hours in oil before you installed them. I know rebuilding automatic tranny's that we had to soak the plates for 24 hrs in tranny fluid to make sure they were fully saturated with oil.

Oh yes. That was well taken care of, plastic bag and oil. It's 1000 km now, either way they are well saturated by now anyway. I think it might be just the adjustment. Will see and report.

I am still thinking the steel discs might generate unwanted oil layer. First will play with the adjustment, then dig in deeper. The good thing is it's a relatively simple and area pin pointed issue.

After a few hundred K. on my new clutch I did an adjustment on the push-rod stud and lock-nut. Then a minor adjustment on the cable, itself. Didn't have any issues - just some maintenance to account for the new friction-plates settling in.

Yes, the clutch and carbs adjustments are on the list. Just trying to find a time and place to do it.

Different bike but my 900F is susceptible to clutch slip if I don't have the 'throw out lever' (if that's what it's called) adjustment on the clutch cover set properly (it's a similar configuration to the 1300 clutch except it's internal to the clutch cover - accessed through a screw-in plug)
