hey all out there.
my name is Tad and I have become the proud owner of a KZ1300A1 which was imported to rainy old uk in 1990.

I have a z1000a1 restored and since riding the 1300 in 1980 have always wanted one so I,m in it deep now !!!!!!

as its a US model I may need some help on some subjects as I rebuild and restore so I would be really grateful to my friends across the pond for any help .

first off
please explain the switches on the left switchgear as I cannot find owners manuals and the bike is a barn find.

are the lights supposed to be on all the time and if so what is the small on off switch next to hazards ?

cheers all

tad

There is a PDF owners manual for download but you may need to get a couple more posts up before you can do it.

Hello Tad and welcome to the Forum.

The Switch next to the hazard switch is the automatic turn signal on/ off switch. A system initially installed on the Z1R that migrated to the 1300 in 79.

The system is a bit flaky and problematic. mainly due to the distance sensor and the solenoid in the turn signal switch.

Regards.

Todd.

Hey Tad,
Welcome to KZ1300.COM!

As a registered member here you are able to see the list of manuals available for download in the column on the right side of most pages displayed here. The owner's manual for the KZ1300 is the second from the top.

Enjoy and Welcome.

PS. We need pictures of your 1300 and would like pics of your 1000.

Just for the record...............

Your first photo is a EURO UK RIGHT Hand Switch (with throttle cables holes at top).

Second photo is RIGHT HAND USA Switch (throttle cable holes on bottom)

Third & Fourth photos are both LEFT HAND Switches.
