Going to need more info on what you've checked as far as troubleshooting so far. Check your plug condition and might be a good id to get a multimeter and start testing everything to figure out where the connection isn't getting made. Check the ohm in the coil, if it's making contact to ground and what the resistance values are, if it has a solid connection to the igniter etc. Does the bike still have ballast resistor? Are the coils on the bike original? Also check the plug connections for any corrosion.

Hope this helps in getting you started :).

Might be one of the pick-up coils in the ignition housing. I can't remember how standard coils are connected but it might be possible to temporarily swap the inputs to 2 coils and see if the fault moves.

Ditto on what MikeZ states above:

If it does come down to pick up coils, remember they can check ok while cold, but they can fail at normal engine operating temperature.

Had that scenario happen last summer on my KZ1000. Bike would run great while cold, then 1/2 hour later, crappy ignition.

But if your 1/6 cylinders are not firing when cold I would start with the high tension side first, then work your way into the low voltage side.

High Tension side:

Ohm out coils, high and low side. Intermittent, loose, or corroded connectors. Ohm out the resistor caps. Plugs fouled?

Low Voltage Side:

Main harness connections for 1/6 coil down to the Ignitor. Ohm out the Pickup Coils, then the harness from the Pickup Coils to the Ignitor.

I would suspect the high tension side first.

Regards.

Just a suggestion, but you could swap signal wires from another coil pack to see if the coil will fire, this would at least be a sure way of determining the control signal is the culprit.

Thanks for all the advice, turns out the ground wire (blk) for the 1 & 6 coil was broken. Attached it to another ground and all good now. Spark on all 6 plugs.
