I have a Z1300 1964 model and while lifting the seat I turned the immobiliser on; since then I have not been able to get any dash lights. Can I just disconnect it and get the bike running again?

can't you just turn the key in the seat lock to the run position?

It has three positions (I think there are only three but there might be a park position too?) - run, inhibit and the spring loaded seat latch position. I think the key slot has to be horizontal to get your dash lights back.

Have you tried turning the key back to the other positions? The off position disables all power.

If you tried turning the key back to run or park. I forget which. Mine has been removed by a previous owner.

If you've tried all the positions and still no lights, check the main fuse. As you open the seat it is the top fuse. 30Amp. Sometimes fuses can be broken/burnt but not visibly at the ends not under the glass.

I'm pretty sure that you've simply set the key in the wrong position. After you close the seat turn the key to the right until it's in a horizontal position. If you still have the side cover you'll see "ON" to the right of the switch, align the key toward it and everything will start working again.

I got the bike running again. It was having the Key in the horizontal position that sorted it I still don't have a spare key but will get one asap that would have helped as I could have turned on the ignition and then operated the immobiliser until I got lights. I'll be fitting higher bars for better leverage steering with the sidecar and braided steel lines next. Am looking forward to some touring this Spring/Summer. Phillip Island for the GP or Superbikes as I can take a tent and all the gear I need.

Why do you need a spare key? You just turn the immobiliser lock to horizontal, remove the key and turn on the ignition.

I mean, it's a good idea to have a spare key but you don't need 2 keys to start the bike.
