I Have a Kawasaki Cam Chain Tensioner part no 12048-1113 parts advise it fits a ZG1000 concours 86-2006 has anyone used one of these before, This is an automatic tensioner so if could be used I imagine 10mm of spring will be required to be removed, to prevent wear and tear on the cam chain tensioner sprocket

Mark,

Not sure on the part number as never used it for reference before but as long at its the same number as the ZZR1100 or GPZ900R it will be ok.
They have the same 2 hole pitches as the Z1300.
If you post a photo of it I can tell you immediately if its the correct one.

Hi Mark,

Yes, I have used one of these and no problems at all in 16000km so far. As you stated though, you must cut 10 - 12mm off the spring to reduce the tension slightly.

Cheers Pete and Craig thought I could but good to hear from someone that has tested. Will chop 10mm of spring when fitting and hopefully tensioner wheel won't wear out, rapidly as has been the case with others.
What made you choose this one Craig ???

Cheers Pete, Craig has used one and done a lot of miles with no problem so that's good enough for me

Hi Mark,

I got the info off this forum a year or so back and went with it. Not sure if it was in the FAQ section or if one of the other kind members gave me the details, but needless to say, all good.
