I hear what your saying Scotch, but what you must bear in mind is that not everyone is as mechanically minded as people such as yourself. Me, I’m a property developer. Show me a dozen or so houses and I will be able to tell you the best one to buy, and whether it will make you a profit or not. I will be able to estimate how much the renovation costs will be to within a couple of hundred quid, and even advise you on the best way to finance your renovation.
Then show me the workshop manual for my KZ1300. I can follow it up to a point, but then is usually becomes too complicated to follow. A wiring diagram! To me it’s like looking at a plate of spaghetti. So what do I do then? I get on this excellent forum and I ask for help from knowledgeable people like you. Without whom I would never have got my old Z running. People like me are extremely grateful for all the help and advice you and the other experts give us. But go a bit easy on us mere mortals. It’s been said on here many times that these bikes are difficult to work on. ;)

Hi McZED ! Re: Spaghetti"

I appreciate and understand your comment. My point is not directed at those who make a concerted effort and when "stumped" ask for help. These folks usually can then supply enough additional info as to what they've tried and how they've tried it for others to establish a good starting point for assisting.
I simply won't waste my time trying to explain how to do something when the clearest explanation is in the manual, in FAQ's or as close as a "google" search.
If one expects to have a dependable functioning 1300 it is in my opinion essential they take the time to grasp at least a basic appreciation and comprehension of what makes it tick. At least correct references and correct terminology can be conveyed.
Intelligent questions with relevant info receive intelligent responses with relevant suggestions. Progress is quicker and can be more directly targeted.
If someone indicates that they have exhausted all efforts to understand a particular problem and are still confused - That's completely different. Give the most accurate description of how far you got and someone here can take it from there.
Many responses can be involved and lengthy. I have many times done some extensive research to validate an intelligent answer. This takes a lot of time sometimes! Getting a response back like, "Oh, I didn't know there are 3 coils" simply makes my blood boil when I've spent considerable time trying to resolve an ignition problem.

No offense intended to anyone specifically and thanks for having the "coils" to express your point of view directly !

from aerialo - Expect a rush for UK Z1300 owners to join the KZ 1300 forum :woohoo: Long may it continue :)

Ironic and coincidental timing of this announcement. With a likely influx of new members and an increase in topic traffic - straightforward questions and relevant informed details will be all the more necessary to keep the threads as short as possible and in keeping that valuable help as easy to find without it getting lost in countless layers of non-description dialogue.

Have a good day everyone !

Well put mate i am very similar i run a Award winning construction and fitout company and we have won the Best Fitout in NZ 4 TIMES and if anyone wanted advice in this field i would feel very qualified in offering this and have the skills and knowledge to both build and budget this project to very high standards. (Bikes are a little different). Saying that i have just totally rebuilt my Z1B in 8 weeks from start to finish and i reckon to award winning standards so long as you don't like standard as it is full Moriwaki F1. titanium exhaust. race carbs the works started first time and runs beautifully Graeme Crosby the ex US suzuki team rider and Tim his mechanic can take the credit for the engine but i did the wiring carbs etc . Just wish the Z1300 was as easy anyway will keep my head down and sort it myself time being the major factor but seeing as i am pretty good at my job as mentioned above i have the income and might just buy a set of the 6 carbs from Weblike for the hell of it and see how they go
