As well explained, it is as much technique as strength. Footwear with a solid sole helps as well. Unless:

www.kz1300.com/index.php/forum/suspensio...r-stand-vs-dg-header

Did these two mods some time ago. No pictures for shortening the stand but the explanation is fairly obvious.

The mod for the header is equally easy. Do both while the C/S is off.

The ease of C/S deployment is noticeable once shortened.

The convenience of having the C/S can not be over-stated.

Had major issues getting mine on it's stand when I bought it. Even when I had a friend help the bike was just too heavy I only managed to do it when I used tow straps connected to the bike frame and my house frame basically lifting the bike till I can get the stand down.

All my issues were resolved after I aired up the tires and rebuilt/aired up my forks. Turns out this is much easier to do if your bike is higher off the ground like it should be. Now I can do it easily on my own with just one leg and one arm doing the work. If your bike is lowered for any reason you might as well remove it to save weight cause it's just decoration at that point lol.

When I bought my 13, I asked the previous owner to show me how he got it on the stand: and he made it look oh so easy. At home in my garage I would have sworn she weighed a good 100 kilo's heavier than when I collected her up a few hours earlier

After a few weeks of trying various techniques (and sometimes just giving up), I found that if I gently rolled her a few inches forward and then backwards, and repeated this 3 - 4 times (almost like a pendulum) with the mass moving backwards she gently pops on the main stand with real ease; to the extent that I can now put her on the main stand in my slippers :woohoo:
Thinking back to my college days I guess there are some basic laws of physics at play - potential energy / moment of inerrtia: I just know it works for me :)

Took me a while to master it since I'm only 150 lbs. A stiff sole on my footwear made all the difference.

just a thought:

the lenght of your front-fork is quite important. The longer it is, the harder it will be to get it up. And as mentioned before - have the tires pumped properly and it will be easier ...
