Too bad it's not in Canada

Since mine is a 1982, and the parts say "Kawasaki by Vetter," and the forks came with the non-ear sleeves, doesn't that mean that these are at least an official Kawasaki Dealer Installed option? Also, the frame has welded-on fairing mounting points that look factory-installed, rather than clamp-on mounts you would expect with a generic Vetter. Wouldn't that support the hypothesis?

In any case, I found some aftermarket CNC-milled ears for 41mm forks on eBay for $13/pair shipped. They look to be worth a try anyway. I'm planning to use them with a round headlight bucket that was supposedly taken off of a KZ1300, although being round I guess would have come off of another bike originally.

I'd be happy to supply brand and vendor details on the ears, although I guess they should ask by PM to keep me out of trouble.

I would have posted a picture, but since there's apparently no direct way to do that, I would have to post a link to achieve that--is that correct?

This is the type of ears that are cheap, but actually very well made. Made from aluminum and powder coated. They can be a good temporary replacement until a pair of stock ears is found. The bad thing - you can't use stock turn signals with them, so it's best to use them with again cheap aftermarket lights.

0h, and if I remember correctly they came either black powder coated of chrome.

Nice! And I see you used a round headlight housing too. What bike is that from?

I don't care about stock turn signals because I'm not going to be using them anyway.

And what's that instrument binnacle from? I'd like to go with something more traditional, exactly like that.

Richard, I bought the bike like this, and I don't know it's history and what these came from. They have 'Nippon Seki Japan' written on them, and 'mph' speedo, so I assume it's from a vintage Japanese bike? The white background for the black numbers is a bit yellowish, so they can't be recent. What bike - I have no clue. I'd like to find that out myself. I am a purist at this stage when it comes to KZ1300's, and these will be taken down and replaced with correct stock. But I agree, all three create a good looking cluster for a custom build, I like them as well.



The headlight part number is 001-2457, says Stanley H4. I think it's a good start to investigate what headlight it fits. Hope this helps!
