Alot of good info thanks for every ones help. I plan on doing this next month the company that will be performing the widening is www.custommetalspinning.com/. I spoke to this guy "Walt" nice guy and we chatted for 15 minutes.
There is another company in Dallas called "wheel spec". I called and also sent a email. They were kind of difficult to get on the phone and by the time I did I was talking to the receptionist I believe not the dude that actually does the work.

I was quoted around $700 . Kind of steep but not many people do motorcycle wheel widening.

Just to throw in a umber in the mix, as these are services across the different bikes spectrum.

There used to be a person widening wheels with wide rims transplanted on the stock hubs for $500 US. Kosman, the fabricator who had great reputation, is no longer available.
Custom aluminum wheels go for about US $1200. Used can be found cheaper. The one I have, was one of those 1200 originally but got it for 400 shipping included form a bike forum buddy. Not a frequent deal mind you.
Carrozzeria custom carbon fiber wheels are around the same mark. Modern design and very light - better acceleration and fuel efficiency. Plus looks. Not sure of they do for KZ1300.

One of the common ways to widen wheels is to cut the original rim and replace it with one form a modern bike. Done by welding or bolting with countless bolts. Both methods work and are very reliable if done by recognized in the bike community experts in this kind of customization.

I contacted Kosman via email and they were the ones that recommended me to that company. Yeah this hobby can be pricey at times but I tell my wife it's still cheaper than a girlfriend.

Doesn't sound too bad at all when you consider I paid £400 15 years ago A word about Kosman; I have a friend with a KZ1300 in the States & he had his wheel widened by Kosman about the same time I did. He got his back & he wasn't pleased with the quality at all, they left the welds visible & he didn't bother fitting it.
