The black 1300 on the home page belonged to Strate6 - Pete. I wonder what those calipers are?
But I agree with scotch. If the brake system is in good condition, and unless you are making repeated hard stops from high speed, the standard set up should be adequate. I don't recall the road tests back in the late 70's being critical of the brakes on this bike.

I'll replace the factory lines over the winter, new pads and try that silicone brake fluid.

The stock system isn't giving me grief except that it just doesn't have the massive braking power I've grown used to from my much more modern ZX12R. It might be all in my head for that matter and this is just an excuse for braided lines

i need to find out but i spend quite a bit of time with Graeme crosby ex GP etc racer he uses the APE calipers which i believe are good value and work well he is using them on moriwaki race replicas which are shipped back to japan which bolt on to Z1000- 900 the calipers on these appear to be the same i will borrow one and see if they are a direct replacement i have put the EBC rotors on mine wish i could tell you how they work but after 8 months she is still not running time to fire the guy who has been trying to sort it out
