The auto fuel shutoff valves on my Hondas use only one hose. On the Hondas, the vacuum diaphragm works against a spring; when the motor turns off the manifold vacuum drops to zero and spring closes the valve. Not sure if that the way the Suzuki tap works.

This, also, is a vacuum operated tap.

Yup, one like this is what I use on mine and it fit perfectly, used a tee off of one of the vacuum hoses. It has been trouble free since. I'm pretty religious about turning off fuel taps on my other motorcycles, so I felt a vacuum tap was a must for this one.

It looks like there's a 'prime' selection on that tap. What does prime do?

The prime position allows fuel to flow without cranking or running the engine. It is useful if the carb float bowls are empty, eg after a rebuild or lay-up. Switch to prime setting, start the engine, switch tap to “run” setting.

Ive got a couple of bikes fitted with vacuum taps - (as BiltonJim said) I always use the prime facility when the bikes have been stood for a while, to fill the float bowls: works everytime, just wish I had fitted one to my Z13 rather than the Pingel unit.
