When I acquired my Z1300 in 1985, the previous owner had fitted some aftermarket silencers - cone type universal - that were not too loud but a disappointing fit with the chrome collector box cover. For many years, I kept a lookout on EBay for original silencers but whilst some were always available, they were always in a poor state of repair.
A couple of companies were offering pattern silencers but the cost was always prohibitive – until Busso in Italy offered their Z1300 silencers at half price - €400 + delivery & tax. Their on-line ordering system at the time did not take credit cards or PayPal with bank transfer the only option. I ordered a pair and sent the money at the beginning of April last year. For several months I heard nothing so chased my order only to be told that they were very busy and would get round to my order as soon as possible. I chased several times again and had almost resigned myself to a lost €470 when a pair of silencers turned up via TNT at the beginning of December together with a bill for import tax/VAT to the UK (a sad reality following Brexit).
I have now fitted these (together with new stainless steel clamps and collector box/silencer gaskets) – the mounting bracket holes were too small for the rear peg bolts so needed to be opened out but otherwise the fit is pretty good. They also sound a lot better – much deeper note than the aftermarket units.
Just a note for anyone else – if you order from Busso, don’t expect prompt delivery
