Hi guys does anyone have any experience with using internal engine detergents to clean sludge out at pre oil change times?
It is supposed to be harmless to seals and bearings? What about the clutch?

Just a thought. If it cleans out all the unwanted things, where do they end up ?

I am referring to the oil-mesh, if the stuff ends in there and blocks your oil--flow you will not be happy ...

Good point Holger, there seem to be possible issues. I will be installing a 1370 engine kit in time maybe that could be the appropriate time for the engine clean. The oil mesh filter could be checked and cleaned then?

Hi
I used it (after a recommendation from a mate) before a major service and top end strip of a very neglected KZ1000 that I was restoring last year: supposed to clean the oil pathways and breakdown sludge.
For approx. £12 GBP I thought I would give it a go: TBH not sure how effective it was, but the oil that came out of that motor was was particularly grotty.
When I refillled the oil I used full mineral 10 / 40, and had no issues with clutch slip.

Cheers Tim

Sure it can, but that is an effort as far as I know. Just keep a thought towards this issue when using it, the mesh will not necessarily be blocked, but you knowing it is free of any debris will give you a much better feeling.
